Book Review: A Court of Silver Flames

Tuesday, 10/1/24 –Chapter 1

I had some time before bed tonight & it’s been a while, so I thought I would read a little something. I was looking for a book I could easily read without thinking about much and I thought this would be the perfect choice.

I’ve gotten about 24 pages in, and it seems like this book (the last one of the ACOTAR series) will be about the main character’s older sister, Nesta. So far, the first chapter hasn’t piqued my interest too much, but I’m blaming that on this being my first reading session in exactly a month.

Friday, 10/4/24 — Chapters 3-11

I had a break from my busy schedule & took today to rest & recharge. So… I did some reading!

I like the book so far. It’s definitely just following Nesta and Cassian’s storyline together, which I’m enjoying it more as I read it. As of right now, Nesta is still sassy and stubborn, but she’s starting to warm up to people.

Sunday, 10/13/24

I’ve made it to the last part of this book! I’m about 500 pages in and I am enjoying it BUT I do think this book could’ve been a lot shorter. I still have almost 250 pages to go.

The book content is interesting, following Nesta throughout this journey of finding and harnessing her faerie powers. I’m not completely locked into her romance with Cassian because it can be so hot and cold, and I feel like Nesta’s mainly on her own journey, and Cassian just pops up every once in a while, to entertain her.

I’m interested to see how this book will end off and how the author will tie this series up. (Even though I think she’s decided to write another book after this???)

Tuesday, 10/22/24 — End of Book

My final thoughts:

Overall, I did enjoy it. I liked how the book spotlighted a character that was on the side for the first four books in the series. This book was all about Nesta, Feyre’s older sister. Nesta is a stubborn character, who is unlikeable a lot of the time. But this book works to show readers the reasons behind Nesta’s hard exterior, and of course, we feel a little more sympathy for her by the end of it. At least, I did. I liked Nesta’s character a lot. Yes, she was awful to almost everyone in her life and that could get annoying at times, but her decisions, behaviors, etc., good or bad, kept me entertained.

My overall critique of the book is that I think it could have been much shorter. The first three books in this series are long, and rightfully so. The second and third books are some of the longest, and most action-packed. Compared to those two, this wasn’t as full of action and excitement, so some of the scenes felt boring and unnecessary.

So, new characters, a new love interest, some fun new storylines, but some unnecessary detail as well. This is the last book in the ACOTAR series, so obviously if you’re reading the series, you’re going to read this one. Even though it went on for too long at times, it was interesting, and I had fun reading it.

This marks the end of my faerie book adventures!
